Spreadsheets are wonderful tools, so much so that people tend to confuse their usage with productivity gains. Unfortunately spreadsheets are NOT a digital panacea to cure all business ills.
There comes a point in companies large and small that they are so suffused with myriads of files that people stop churning out work. Instead spend more that twenty percent of their time hunting down files and another twenty percent calling each other to see who has that particular file open.
This is what I coin as anti-productivity. It is not ever counter productive , it is worse, the more effort you put in it, the less you get out of it. People should then sit back and think how systems should work not how they (the people) are operated upon by the machinery.
